Curating the Placita Latina Latinx Art Exhibition, a show that means so much to my heart

I'm so excited to share that we have a brand new art exhibition hanging at the Decatur Visitors Center, Celebrating Our Collective Culture! The show is on view through October 14, 2022.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month Placita Latina and the Decatur Arts Alliance are partnering for the second year in a row to showcase emerging Latinx artists in our community. Placita Latina first invited me to be in the Latinx Art Exhibition again this year, then invited me on the board and asked me to co-chair the Art Exhibition. What an honor!

I loved finding the artists, curating the show, and hanging it. I’m excited for everyone to have the opportunity to see some amazing talent--and so diverse! We have a wide range of ages, backgrounds, styles and voices. And this year we even have a writer sharing her debut book!

Hanging the show with all the other artists is always fun. What a great Placita Latina tradition.

Oh, and save the date, as we will be celebrating the the show in grand style on Friday, October 14 from 6:30-9:30 with Latin music, food and drinks! Plus the artists will be speaking throughout the night and we’ll have a reading and book signing.
