The birth of a new style
March 30, 2020
A whole new style emerged for me this year, and I’m so excited with where this new style is going.
And, what’s better is that someone else likes it, too. It’s going to its new home today. It will be the partner to a blue piece that was recently delivered.
I’m not sure just where this piece came from. It felt like it made itself. One day I had a faint idea that I wanted to make something completely different from what I’d been painting. I wanted to just let go and paint.
I wanted it to have strong vertical and horizontal emphases. I wanted it to be fresh. I wanted it to be bright. I wanted it to be red. Real red. I wanted it to be full of passion. I had no expectations of what it would look like other than the above. And then I simply followed the flow.
I love when magic happens on a canvas. I get lost in the paint. I get lost in the work. Nothing else exists. I stop thinking. I just feel and follow my intuition. And with our world turned upside down right now, I need this even more than ever. This is why I paint. This is what I love to do.
And to have others love the final piece enough that they want it to hang in their home makes what I do feel even better.
