When two worlds collide — beautifully!

I opened the email, and, in sheer disbelief, read “your work has been accepted”...

Double take, eyes wide open, heart suddenly jumping out of my chest, I leaned forward and reread the email several times before I let myself truly believe the words.

My work is one of 30 pieces that will be displayed for a year on a billboard in Atlanta, 14 ft tall x 48 ft wide! Crazy, right?! I’m thrilled and honored to be included in the 1st Annual juried outdoor art program, ArtPop Street Gallery, in Atlanta.

Could my 25-year graphic design career and my new fine art pursuits collide in a more perfect manner?!! What a beautiful merging of my career and my passion, and while I’m still in the early stages of feeling my way as a fine artist. For years I’ve designed websites, logos, ads, brochures, environmental graphics, apps — you name it — for other companies. For the first time ever, I had the honor of designing a billboard and preparing the print-ready files for my own work… Pretty thrilling!

The billboards go up the third week of June. (Soon!) In the next few weeks we’ll be notified of the billboard location, so I’ll share that as soon as I know. I’m so excited that so many people will get to see my work, and see it HUGE! I still can’t believe it. So surreal! I’m just so honored to have my work included among the fantastic outdoor art we have all across Atlanta — the city that I’ve called home for more than 25 years.

I love what ArtPop Street Gallery is doing for our communities and local artists. So exciting! Can’t wait!

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

ArtPop Street Gallery started in 2014, the program makes art more accessible to the public while supporting local artists. What a cool mission! Bonus, it’s also a safe way to view art during a pandemic!

A big thank you to ArtPop Street Gallery, Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County, and for the generous donations made by media companies who’ve donated the media space that make this program possible. Thank you to Integration Media for the ad space shown above on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta. Thank you to Clear Channel Outdoor for my static vinyl billboard on Windy Hill Road. And thank you to Lamar Advertising, OUTFRONT Media, Clear Channel Airports, Blackbird Media Digital, and Link Media who have donated all the other digital ad spaces.
